Two day Solar Housing Conference for Carbon neutral Ladakh

The two day conference on Solar Housing 2022 for Carbon neutral Ladakh organised by the School of Energy Studies, Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh (HIAL) culminated in the “Phyang Declaration” for a Carbon-Neutral Ladakh. Various stakeholders took part in the conference and put forth their recommendations after much deliberation and discussion. One of the major policy recommendations was to declare Ladakh as a “Cold and Sunny” climate it originally was. Shri Ravinder Kumar, Secretary Power, UT Secretariat, Leh-Ladakh assured the public that efforts are being made in that direction. The declaration also stresses on the need to increase capacity building and public awareness towards solar housing. Special recommendations were made for adapting the ECBC codes to Ladakh.
