Padma Shri Chewang Norphel

Shri Chewang Norphel, fondly known as the Ice-man of India is an Indian civil engineer from Ladakh, who has built 15 artificial glaciers. He is the recipient of Jamnalal Bajaj Award in 2010 and Padma Shri, the 4th highest civilian honour of India in 2015!

Mr. Vallabh Bhansali

Mr. Vallabh Bhanshali is a well known thought leader and a businessman. He has served the economy and capital markets of India with great distinction as the Co-founder of ENAM Securities, a reputed investment banking and Investment group.

Prof. Subhash Kak

Prof. Subhash Kak is Regents Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. His research includes AI, quantum computing, and history of science. He is a member of Indian Prime Minister’s Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC) since 2018 and the recipient of Padma Shri in 2018.

Dr. Khanpo Konchok Rigzen

He is an Indian folk musician, composer and dramatist, known for his contributions for the revival of Ladakhi and Tibetan folk music tradition. He is reported to have traveled across the Ladakhi region in the 1960s and documented the songs of the region which has assisted in the preservation of the regional musical tradition.

Shri Mipham Otsal

Mipham Otsal, President, Ladakh Theatre Organisation is an actor and director. He is a known name in the field of theatre in Ladakh. In 2011, he received Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for traditional theatre (Jammu and Kashmir). In 1995, he founded Ladakh Theatre Organization (LTO), which is inspiring the youth towards theater and performing arts. Mr. Mipham obtained his Diploma in theatre from the National School of Drama, Delhi, in 1982, becoming NSD’s first graduate from Ladakh. He has represented India in Thailand, North Korea, Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Sweden, Denmark, and Switzerland on cultural exchange programs.
He also received felicitations for his work from institutions including the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar.

Rev. Elijah Gergan

Rev Gergan is an academician who served as the Principal of Moravian Mission School, a private school in Leh, Ladakh, established in 1887. City children, poor and rich, as well as children from remote poor villages attend the school. He is known for constantly caring about each child, as well as striving for academic excellence both for the children and the teachers.

Dr Abbas retired as the Divisional Forest Officer, Forest Department, Leh, Ladakh. Apart from being a passionate forrester, he is also an avid birder.
